EKU Aerospace Management student to participate in SEC-AAAE Internship Program

Eastern’s own Hannah Clayton, aerospace management senior from Taylorsville, Ky., is one of only four students selected to participate in this year's American Association of Airport Executives' Southern Chapter (AAAE-SEC) Internship Program.

A team of Eastern Kentucky University Graphic Communications Management students traveled to Baltimore to participate in the Phoenix Challenge: International Collegiate Flexo Skills Competition on April 26.

Teams were presented with the opportunity to work with a charity, nonprofit or company, helping them rebrand, promote, label or package.

Fariello receives Dean's Award

Cadet Elizabeth Fariello has been selected to received the College of Education Dean's Award for Outstanding Achievement. The Award is given to an outstanding graduating senior in the College of Education who possesses a high total grade point average as well as exhibits strong leadership skills, outstanding character, and service.

Scholar Athlete: Julie Mathisen

Julie Mathisen, Sophomore, Askim, Norway

Journalism major Julie Mathisen has earned OVC Athlete of the Week honors. A native of Askim, Norway, Mathisen was named the Adidas Ohio Valley Conference Co-Female Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office. This the first career OVC Track Athlete of the Week Honor for the winner of the women's mile at the OVC Indoor Championships in February.

Congratulations to Dr. Liz Hansen! The EKU Board of Regents has approved the recommendation for the Department of Communication chair and Foundation Professor to be awarded the academic status of Faculty Emerita. 

Emeritus status is an honorary rank awarded to a retired faculty member who has faithfully served EKU with distinction.

Eastern’s own Megan Moore (AG Education junior from Williamsburg) recently won first place in the Gaited Mule State Championship in Trail Pleasure Racking Competition for ladies 18 and over.

Fort Wayne, IN, April 5, 2014 – Eastern Kentucky University participated in the 13th Annual North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge® (NAIDC) held April 3-5 in Fort Wayne, Ind. In total, 264 students from 37 colleges across the U.S. and Canada attended this educational event co-hosted by Purdue University, Michigan State University and The Ohio State University.

A communications senior from Salvisa, has a head start in her marketing career through cooperative education.

Ashley Robe, 21, is a marketing team member for Ale-8-One, where she travels the state promoting the drink. Robe joined the team in August 2013, after she moved to Richmond, going to the company for an interview.

Dustin Ratliff named as Schwendeman Outstanding Senior in Aviation

Mr. Dustin Ratliff has been named the 2014 Joseph Schwendeman Outstanding Senior in Aviation. He was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 3, 2014, at the annual Aviation program’s College to Careers Conference. This is the first year the award.
