BEM Junior Receives Barfield Scholarship

Eastern Kentucky University junior Marisa Hempel, a broadcasting and electronic media major from Berea, is one of five students statewide selected to receive the Kentucky Broadcasters Association’s Harry Barfield Scholarship.

Hempel will receive a $2,500 scholarship for the 2016-17 academic year.

Seven EKU students selected for KPA internships

Seven Eastern Kentucky University students will gain journalism experience this summer at news media outlets across the Commonwealth through the Kentucky Press Association’s summer intern program.

Hosted annually by KPA, the program matches students with member newspapers and news outlets across the state to provide eight-week internships, each supported by a $3,000 stipend.

Graduating senior Ally Peters was voted Best Inspirational Leader of the EKU Women's Volleyball team. She received the honor at the annual Volleyball Colonels Awards Banquet.  Peters, a Communication Studies major from Medina, Oh., is set to graduate May 13th.

Meet the New EKU Farm Director

Justin McKinney

Justin McKinney has recently accepted the position of Director of Farms at Eastern Kentucky University. McKinney has deep roots in southeastern U.S. agriculture and studied at the University of Florida (UF), a land-grant institution. He holds an undergraduate degree in agribusiness management and a graduate degree in agronomy.
